THE ADVENT OF A.I.

Poster's Note: A.I. stands for Artificial Intelligence, not artificial insemination nor American Idol, per se.

It has been concurred that our days of intellectual aeon has been hemmed in by artificial intelligence. Smart machinery - exemplified by computers - already surround our society. Might artificial intelligence - the way of solving problems and decision making by machines in a way often done by humans - be the next stage in our ascent of cosmic progression?

Barely a day seems to pass by without some researchers affirming to have discovered certain empirical data on the fields of medicine, architecture, etc. Even genetic engineering is now prevalent.

Indeed, we have reached the stage wherein our suppositions are already answered. Engineers have now programmed computer to think, learn and even create. The extent to which artifical intelligence might be advanced is not yet known. However, it is said to have no limit, since human can never be wholly satiated. Although it is still believed that today's computers are nothing but simple devices that repletes our pleasures, everyone would agree that new technologies can now perform mathematical operations faster than humans.

"PROPAGANDA ELETTORALE..."

"You won the election, but I won the count." Clever words uttered by Anastasio Somoza Debayle. He was officially the 44th and the 45th leader of Nicaragua. He was the last member of the Somoza family to be President, ending their dynasty who held power since 1936. (Wikipedia) But whatever, that's not what I was trying to dig in. Rather, it was the very clever words he uttered.

What he said was exemplified by our system, at least. Every election period, it is inevitable that we experience different anomalies, from the electioneering period up to the reading of ballots. We always experience those. Most popular probably, is the manipulation of vote counts. It amazes me when a locale, for example, primarily has 900 registered voters. But then again, it turned out that the total number of people who "voted" was 2,000. It is explicitly shown here that from the actual 900 voters, it appears that 1,100 more votes were awarded to a candidate.

Now, who can forget the very popular convo between Commissioner on Elections Virgilio Garcillano and Madame President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. "Hello, hello Garci... Will I still lead 1 million?" This was the first statement said by Arroyo which strengthened the allegations on her for rigging the 2004 presidential elections. As of today, after all the brilliant and strong evidences on her, she was not removed from her chair.

And now, we're facing another chance for an immense change, yet with small margin of being successful.

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO...

The most prestigious award giving body for achievements in motion picture production and performance has already released the list of nominees for this year's Academy Awards. Here's a quick view on the complete list of nominees in each category. 79th Annual Academy Awards - Nominee List.

I am quite surprised that Dreamgirls wasn't nominated in Best Picture category since it was nominated in six categories including Best Supporting Actress(Jennifer Hudson) and Best Supporting Actor(Eddie Murphy). But I guess the picture didn't achieve the elements needed for the Best Picture category. I think(more of I hope) Babel will take home the Best Picture award.

OH HOW I LOOOOVE MORNINGS...

...the aroma of the brewed coffee, the freshly shampooed hair and the new delivered newspaper. It explicitly tells us that our day would flow at its best. Of course, with God's ultimate grace and glory.

I love how every mornings of my life had come about. The first thing I always see when I wake up is the bright and astounding rays of the rising sun. Don't you just find yourself amazed on how God has put every celestial body in their place? I do. This manifests how wonderful our God Almighty is.

MOVIE-WHORING

Apart from the busy schedule that I have, I cannot be halted from doing what I love most, watching movies. In two weeks, I was able to watch three movies, though the other one I only got to watch in a DVD copy, which is actually copied illegally(oh, please forgive me).

I have always enjoyed watching musical flicks, may it be Annie or Chicago. That's why I was forced to buy this DVD copy of Dreamgirls. As usual, I enjoyed the intricacies of the story. Dreamgirls is about nothing but love for music and concocted with feelings of greed and tough love. It was about three young women's(Deena Jones, Effie White, Lorrell Robinson) desire to become popular pop stars and subsequently got their wish as they were contracted to perform as backup vocals for Jimmy Early. Then they're set free as leads, performing as a trio. Here comes the conflict as their manager(Curtis Taylor) decided that Deena Jones will sing lead which upsets Effie since she always does lead. And here enters problems, lots of singing and everything more.
STARRING: Beyonce, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx. Introducing Jennifer Hudson (American Idol Season 3 Finalist)

When you're looking for something to get you away from all of your enigmas, Night at The Museum could be the answer. Starring Ben Stiller, it is about Larry Daley, a divorced father who can't seem to keep a job for more than a week. He finally applies for a job in the Museum of Natural History as a night guard. However, a seemingly light job turned out to be a rampage when he found out that an ancient curse has caused the statues and everything, exactly, in the museum to come to life. It is a movie for the whole family as Ben Stiller joshes every minute in the movie.
STARRING: Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Robin Williams

Just in time to experience mushy feelings. Music and Lyrics had offered it to me. It is about a retired-band member Alex Fletcher who is struggling in his career when an opportunity came. He is given a couple of days to compose a chart-topping hit for a teen sensation singer(not actually a singer, she did dancing more in the movie than singing). Though he has never written a song in his entire music career, he was stimulated by a quirky younger woman Sophie Fisher with a flair for words and lyrics. Here comes their struggles in their own lives and finally, ending up for each other.
STARRING: Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant

THAT BITTER ALKALOID

No matter how much peril it may bring to one's starving chassis, we still can't elude the piquant aroma of coffee.

What is in those coffee that makes them popular? What does this component do that causes its use to be so encyclical?

Caffeine. Little do know that caffeine is a drug. Medically, caffeine is used as a cardiac stimulant and also a diuretic (basically helps your flow of urine). Recreationally speaking, it is used to provide a boost of energy or to rise you alertness. Mostly, students or latenight workers (especially call center agents) use it to stay awake in nights of work.

The state of coffee has been raised to a high esteem and honour. Many people feel that they aren't "functioning well" without a sip of java every morning. This is because caffeine is an addictive drug. With the same mechanisms that amphetamines, cocain and heroin operate, caffeine also stimulates one's brain. However on a spectrum, caffeine has a moderate effect. But it is manipulating the same channels.

Caffeine in one's diet is simply irrefutable since we can find caffeine in wide range of foods. Typical colas do contain levels of caffeine. Even teas.

Indeed, caffeine has been a comforter for most of us. Worldwide, it is the second most widely distributed next to oil. The good thing about this is that companies have found and manufactured caffeine into different likeable and fancy forms.

Starbucks, for example, one of the most ecumenical coffee shops in our times. Starbucks stores serve a variety of brewed coffees, which change on a weekly basis to satiate the preferences of its customers. It also suffices an array of hot drinks and both espresso-based and non-espresso based.

Consumer whore. Yes, it has hoarded millions and millions drinkers worldwide with branches in different countries.

But it is incontestable of the fact that caffeine has helped a lot of economies to rise. It provides employment and good production possibility frontier.
