Poster's Note: I know. I am, rather young to talk about these things. This entry might not possess that lucidness which a scholarly and profound journalist may write about, however it would not stop me from expressing what's in my mind.
Being a person of the society who belongs to the political left, I am quite appalled with the very recent extra-judicial killings here in our country. Over the recent years, reports of flaring number of killings of political activists, predominately those associated with leftist or left-oriented bastions, have caused increasing concern in the Philippines and internationally, as well.
It is a sad reflection in our society that our own government has not taken any significant steps to stop these extra-judicial killings. It is either the government is unwilling to pioneer solutions or it is incapable of terminating such arrest.
Since the offset of the year alone, fifteen people have become casualties of extra-judicial killings, according to local human rights group Karapatan. Extra judicial killings have played a major role on the break down of the protracted peace process between the government, NPA, CPP and other related groups.
Urgent steps are needed by our government to remediate these situations. I hope soon, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be able to produce solutions for these, rather immoral doings.
